CIRCE (Center for Isotopic Research on Culturale and Environmental heritage) was established in 2005 within the framework of an European funded call managed by the local Region Campania (POR Campania 2000-2006 misura 3.16),. The aim of the laboratory were both research and service, through the creation of a no profit company INNOVA,
focused onto the diagnostics of cultural heritage artifacts and the study of environmental processes by means of isotopic methodologies. The fields of activity of CIRCE were later extended, on the one side towards basic molecular, atomic and nuclear physics, nuclear and particle astrophysics and, on the other, towards industrial applications on material science.

Nowadays CIRCE consists of a number of different laboratories (follow the link in the page heading for details), where about 20 staff members, post-docs and PhD students, and about 40 external users per year, including about 15 from abroad, do their research.
CIRCE is open to external collaborations: please contact us if you are interested in performing research at CIRCE.
